This project has been in discussion for many years and was finally approved recently. It will allow to connect Flaine ski resort in Haute Savoie, France with the Arve valley from 2019. The project called Funiflaine is now a regional integrated state plan which will cost 84M € and allow many skiers to leave their car in the valley, saving their time, lowering overall traffic and reducing environmental impacts.
Funiflaine’s journey will be from Magland to Les Carroz and then onto Flaine in a total of about 20 minutes, going through 5 intermediate stations, with a capacity of 2000 passengers per hour. Operations will run winter and summer and will increase touristic potentials with a diversity of activities for all. The TGV (French fast train) will be accessible from the Magland station.
