Henrik Kristoffersen of Norway, only 19 years old won his first World Cup race Tuesday in Schladming, Austria taking a night slalom in front of an incredible crowd of 50,000 spectators, that included Arnold Schwarzenegger among VIP’s.
Kristoffersen won in a two run time of 1:47:43. World champion Marcel Hirscher of Austria was second with +0.18, Felix Neureuther of Germany was third. This was the final slalom before the Winter Olympics. Kristoffersen would be the youngest male medalist in Olympic Alpine history if he wins a medal in Sochi. Mikaela Shiffrin isn’t the only teenage slalom phenom.
The FIS Alpine World Cup continues with a downhill and a giant slalom in St Moritz, Switzerland, on Saturday and Sunday. They are the final races before the Olympics.
