Avalanches occurred over the weekend in several ski resorts in France, Switzerland and Austria following heavy snowfalls these past few days.
On the Tignes glacier in France, four skiers survived an avalanche this past Sunday. The higher part of the ski resort had just opened a few days after heavy snowfall.
The four skiers who were off-piste skiing above 3000 meters triggered a snow slide that crossed a trail of the Grande Motte glacier causing no casualties.
One of the young men was partially buried but managed to get out of the snow before the search rescue team arrived on site. Three meters of accumulated snow were measured in some areas of the avalanche measuring 400 meters long and 300 meters wide.
More snow is predicted in coming days… Stay safe!
