The 2014-15 FIS Alpine World Cup season opener in Levi, Finland was quite a show as the 2013 overall World Cup winner from Slovenia, Tina Maze stole the show and won todays slalom. Tina Maze who started with bib 13 skied a flawless first run to overtake then leader Frida Hansdotter and secure her second run to take the win.
Second place Hansdotter of Sweden was hoping to add to her lone World Cup victory which came last season in Slovenia, while Kathrin Zettel of Austria took third place. The Swedish team had great start with Hansdotter’s second place and Maria Pietilae-Holmner forth’s place. The snow conditions held up extremely well allowing for six starters outside of the top 30 to qualify for the second run, with three of those having bibs over 50.
