Alpine Skiing – Men: Ted Ligety of the United States produced another flawless run to win the giant slalom at the Sochi Games on Wednesday, becoming the first American man to win two Olympic gold medals in Alpine skiing. The 29 year old looked in great shape and completed the course in a combined time of 2:45:29 in front of two frenchmen, Steve Missilier and Alexis Pinturault, second and third respectively while Marcel Hirscher of Austria missed out on a podium finish.
Biathlon – Mixed: Norway won the first Olympic mixed relay in biathlon, and Ole Einar Bjoerndalen became the most decorated Winter Olympian ever with 13 medals. Czech Republic was 32.6 second behind to win silver, and Italy came in 58.2 seconds behind for bronze.
Snowboard – Women: The women’s snowboarding parallel giant slalom provided a magnificent spectacle as Patrizia Kummer of Switzerland took the gold in a dramatic day’s racing. The silver medal went to the excellent Tomoka Takeuchi of Japan, with Russia’s new star Alena Zavarzina coming in third and earning the bronze.
