The Winter Olympics in Sochi were a great success despite some criticism prior to the world event. In front of its home crowed, Russians saw their Olympic team win the most gold medals as well as overall total count with 13 gold, 11 silver and 9 bronze totaling 33 in all!
In the “quality” ranking winning the most gold medals, Norway came second with 11 medals, Canada third with 10, the United States fourth with 9, the Netherlands and Germany fifth with 8, Switzerland sixth with 6, Belarus seventh with 5, Austria, France and Poland eighth with 4, China and South Korea ninth with 3, and Sweden, the Czech Republic and Slovenia tenth with 2 gold medals each.
In the “total number” ranking winning the most medals overall, United States came second with 28 medals, Norway third with 26, Canada fourth with 25, the Netherlands fifth with 24, Germany sixth with 19, Austria seventh with 17, France and Sweden eighth with 15 medals each, Switzerland ninth with 11, and China tenth with 9 medals.
